Signs of Spring

Although winter is far from over there are definite signs of spring in the garden and locally.

I've had frogspawn in the little pond for about a fortnight now:

To one side of the pond Camellia 'Cornish Snow' is flowering well:

Hellebores are producing their lovely flowers:

Snowdrops were looking a picture when I visited Saltram House late last week:

As were their Welsh daffodils, Narcissus pseudonarcissus:

And on Dartmoor the hardy little native ponies were grazing on fresh grass rather than dry, winter withered vegetation:

Spring is on its way - which means I'd better get on with a clear up!

  1. Looking very much like spring! Are the hellebores from your garden? They are further gone than mine, but I have mine in the shade so they do take a bit longer. Mine haven't opened up fully yet. Don't blame them in this cold weather we have now, we are expecting snow on Monday, ugh!

  2. Those two hellebores are in the sun. Another couple I've got in shade are still elongating their flower stalks so not out yet - but they shouldn't be too long before the first flower opens. We've had less than half a day of snow so far, none in the last fortnight, so things are moving well down here in the southwest.
